Calgon Take Me Away...

This story has a villain

It also has a victim

For those of you potty training you know that some days are just better than others. This week has been a disaster for me. On Sunday the twins just decided they didn't want to use the potty anymore. I have washed underwear, sheets and clothes 'til I could scream. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I understand that boys are different from girls, but I had no idea how much different until today. Girls would NEVER do what I'm about to describe.

The twins have gotten to where they don't want to take a nap. I still put them in their beds at the same time and close the door. I hear them playing and jumping on their beds. They might fall asleep for 30 minutes or so. Today I heard Kaylee trying to open the door. So I went in to get them up. I opened the door to what turned out to be a nightmare. Kaylee's hair was sticking out. So I touched it and said "What is in your hair Kaylee?" I quickly realized that it was POOP!

I looked over at Dylan and saw that he had it everywhere. It was all over Kaylee, Dylan, Kaylee's bed, their blankets, and her sheets. I had to restrain from spanking Dylan. Actually, I think I just didn't want to touch him or him to touch me. I had to peel it out of Kaylee's hair, during the bath I immediately put them into. He has been putting his hand in his underwear all week. This, however, is the first time he has ever put anything on Kaylee. I just wanted to get this off my chest. I hope my mom can work a miracle with him while I am gone rafting tomorrow.

Country Cookin'

Tonight I decided to cook some of the vegetables people had given me out of their gardens. My mom came over, and we got started. We ended up having fried ocra, squash patties, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and cornbread sticks.

It was yummy!

I made some fried zucchini sticks to eat as an appetizer. For those of you who don't like zucchini very much, this is a great way to fix it.

-Cut zucchini into thin strips
-Beat an egg then dip the strips into the egg
-Put some italian bread crumbs, parmesean cheese and salt into a bowl. Mix well. Place the strips in the bowl and cover them completely
-Fry them up and when you take them out sprinkle more parmesean cheese over the top of them

I enjoyed all the food but let's just say all this fried food was NOT healthly. I was in the kitchen for 3 hours from beginning to end. I don't understand how my grandmothers used to cook like this all the time. It makes me miss them that much more. They were both great cooks.

Happy Birthday Kynsley

On Saturday, July 18th, we were invited to a birthday party for Kynsley Looney. She turned two. Obviously I didn't really pay that much attention to the invitation. I was just expecting a sprinkler or something small. We arrived at the party, and I thought I would have a heart attack. There was a huge, gorgeous, inground pool in the back. Everything was decorated to a tee. I ended up running around all night after the twins like a chicken with it's head cut off. I had to rely on a lot of the people at the party to help me out. Everyone was a big help, and I really appreciate them helping me keep the twins from diving in head first. Donnie took Kaylee out into the pool, and she was stiff as a board. They are used to the small pool we have on our back patio. They have only been in a bigger pool a couple of times when we were on vacation. Dylan, as usual, wouldn't have anything to do with the water. He was about ready to get in after two hours, but then it was time to come home. I would like to thank Amanda for helping me get Kaylee to the car. I have never been so tired and hot, as I was when I left the party, in a VERY long time. Thank you Alicia and Kynsley for the invite. The food, company, and entertainment were great. We look forward to next year's party! Kaylee ready to get in the pool Having fun in the pool Kicking water around Splashing is fun Dylan thinking about taking his shirt off Kaylee and Lillian playing in the sprinkler The birthday girl and her gorgeous cake (Way to go Alicia!) Kaylee posing with one of her favorite things...a balloon! Dylan and Addie Mae Addie Mae looking too cute Dylan still debating about getting in the pool

Going Green

I finally figured out a way to get the kids to eat spinach without a big fuss. This is my pizza roll. It has pepperoni, spinach, cheese and sauce in the middle. You can use any kind of meat that you choose. Here is the recipe just in case anyone would like to try it.

-Preheat oven to 425*
-Roll out pizza dough
-Spread on some pizza sauce
-Sprinkle on mozzarella cheese
-Sprinkle on italian seasoning
-Spread out pepperoni slices
-Put prewashed baby spinach over meat
-Sprinkle more mozzarella cheese
-Fold over from one side to the other making a roll. Make sure to tuck both ends under to prevent any leaks
-Place on a greased baking sheet
-Rub EVOO over the top to ensure it turns a nice golden brown color
-Sprinkle salt over the top of the roll
-Cook for approx. 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown
-Cut into slices and serve with marinara sauce for dipping

Now eat and enjoy your finished product!

July 4th

We had a great holiday. We started out by staying at home and playing in the kiddie pool. I made the mistake of letting Kaylee get a sunburn on her face, arms and legs. I feel so bad. We ended the night at Athens High School for the annual fireworks show. My mom and dad went with us. We got there early so the kids could play on the inflatables. Kaylee was very excited about going down the slide. Dylan was not really into doing much but dancing. He loved hearing Buz Lovell's band. They played Bluegrass music. Dylan was cutting a rug. People were stopping to laugh at him. This was our first year to attend, so we did not really know what to expect. We got a seat in the stadium to watch the fireworks. The twins have been doing really well at potty training this week. They had to go to the potty, which was in the car. We all left and went back to the car. The kids both went to the bathroom. Yeah! We decided to get our chairs out and sit by the car. That turned out to be a great idea. We did not have any trouble getting out of the parking lot. The fireworks show was great. The twins really seemed to enjoy watching the sky light up. All in all it was a good day that was spent with family. I also want to give a big congratulations to Brooke Burns. She was over the Firecracker Festival. I thought she did a wonderful job. Way to go Brooke!

Happy July 4th!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Sad Day

It has been a sad day for our family. My mother's mom passed away early this morning. She will surely be missed. She lived in the apartment at the back of our garage. She unfortunately had to go to the nursing home about two months ago. I am very happy she got to meet the twins, and spend some quality time with them before she got so ill. We will miss her being right here with us. May she rest in peace.

Blog Gift For Tara

I forgot to take a picture of the blog gift I bought for Tara. I got this picture off the internet. I got her a picture album from Hallmark. It is the album in the middle of this picture. She is a photographer so I thought this would be perfect for her. I hope she enjoys it!

(For Tashia) This was a post that was done earlier this year. This is how I got my blog gift. This is a copy of the post:

Pass It On...
My dear friend Amber has this on her blog and I thought it sounded like so much fun. So this is how it works...The first 3 people to leave a comment on this will receive a gift from me during this year. When and what will be a surprise. There's a small catch...You knew there would be didn't you? Post this on your blog then come back and leave a comment, telling me you're in. Fun, huh? Remember, only the first 3 comments receive the gift.
